I've been trying to get my Ubuntu laptop on the WSU wireless. I've followed both the GUI and commandline tutorials but have had no luck. Are any LUG members available to help me out with this sometime?
fantastic example of why you should sanitize bug reports before submitting: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472370
A coworker of mine (hey KT) pointed me to this nice article at http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html that talks about the DRM (Digital Restrictions Management, as one of my favorite hackers calls it) in Vista and how much time, money, and effort are wasted on it (for end users as well as developers).
A bot is now monitoring the activity in #wsulug. Every time a user speaks, the bot will determine who the user is talking to, and draw a map of this. You can find the image here, updated live. The bot is a piespy bot, which can be found here. Hopefully we will find some patterns in our communication in the IRC channel. It's worth noting that piespy has been used to track social networking in Shakespeare. Have a look, here.
So in my copious spare timeRead this as: time in which I was trying to relieve the mental pressure building in my head so that I did not explode and make a mess on my keyboard., I was poking around looking for a filesystem to replace reiserfs on my media box. I've been getting weird fs errors lately which cause file accesses to fail until the next reboot.
Anyways, I found a neat fs comparison here: http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/388
It looks like I might be switching back to jfs.
