Web application developer position in the Department of Horticulture

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Horticulture at Washington State University in Pullman, WA, USA seeks applications for a talented, enthusiastic web application developer to join our expanding team. The developer must be able to work both independently and within a team environment. Enthusiasm and flexibility in working on a variety of projects are also necessary. The ideal applicant is someone who enjoys technical challenges and the satisfaction of overcoming them.

The applicant will be responsible for  developing web based tools using PHP and Perl for several large Drupal based websites operating on the Linux platform to integrate with Bioinformatics tools and databases. The applicant will also be reponsible for writing and maintaining documentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related disciplne.
  • Experience with cascading stylesheets, javascript/JQuery and Ajax.
  • Experience with PHP 5.X and/or Perl in an Apache environment.
  • Experience with relational databases and Structured Query Language, and stored procedures.
  • Proficiency with Linux command line interface and using SSH, BASH, and Perl.
  • Proficiency with Subversion or similar source code management tool.
  • Proficiency with code and protocol documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Drupal modules and themes.
  • Familiarity with common bioinformatic tools.
